June 2018 Monthly Meeting
IMPORTANT MEETING NOTICE
We have just been informed that Brian McClendon, the Democratic candidate for Kansas Secretary of State, us unable to attend next week's meeting of the Riley County Democratic Party. We will make every attempt to get Brian here at future meetings.
But next week, we will do something even more meaningful: We will develop our own platform of issues for the 2018 election season. That is, what are the top issues that voters more care about? We want to have discussions among Seniors/Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials about key issues that members of those groups view as important for their particular group. What are the top 5 issues, and what are the talking points that our candidates should use in framing the issues?
We are doing this because there has been a lack of leadership provided by the national or state parties on issue development, and we believe that here in Riley County and the adjoining region, we have some issues that are important to local voters.
In other words, this is your chance to be heard, and your chance to help frame our approach to wining in November. Come and bring a friend or two.
The meeting will be at The Blue Hills Room (next to R.C. McGraw’s) on Monday, June 11th :
6:00 – 6:30 Gather, socialize and sign in
6:30: Dinner served
7:00: Program – break into groups and develop our messages
Tickets will be available for our exciting fundraising event on June 30th.
Remember, if you are short of funds for the meal, the Bruce Kent memorial fund is available to cover your meal cost. (Check at the sign in table for your meal token)
