April and May 2018 Meetings of the Riley County Democrats:
April 16, Zack Pistora, Topeka Lobbyist for the Sierra Club. Zack will discuss recent chicken legislation would allow the expansion of confined chicken growing operations with no closer proximity to 1/4 mile of an occupied home. This legislation was in direct reponse to the City of Tonganoxie, KS refusing to allow 400 chicken houses to spring up in their area. How will this affect sewage, water, and odors? Come and find out!
May 25 - Dr. Micah Kubic, Executive Director of the ACLU of Kansas will be speaking on ACLU (representing League of Women Voters) vs. Kris Kobach, known as Fish vs. Kobach. He will also discuss various voter suppression methods being used in Kansas today.
The Riley County Democratic Party meets the Third Monday of every month at Pottorf Hall from 6-9 PM. Potluck from 6-7 pm. Meeting begins 7 PM. Speaker 7:30 – 8:30. Close by 9 PM.
