On April 14th, Riley County Democrats gathered in the Manhattan Public Library Auditorium to hear Chris Mann, a Democrat for Attorney General. The meeting was organized as a town hall, and the audience was energized by the candidate’s presentation and the clarity of his message.

Chris Mann spoke with conviction about a lifetime devoted to public service, framing his candidacy as a continuation of that commitment. Emphasizing that, as Attorney General, his duty would be to serve and protect the people of Kansas, he conveyed a sense of purpose that resonated deeply with those in attendance.

Recounting a personal anecdote, Chris Mann reminded us that Kansans understand something that nature has been demonstrating for generations: like the wheat that stretches across our fields, we are strongest together. A single stalk standing alone must bear the full force of the wind, bending under the strain of every gust. But in a field, wheat forms a living canopy—each stalk sharing the load, slowing the wind, and leaning into one another for support. The storm does not disappear, but its power is softened, dispersed across the many instead of breaking the one. In the same way, when we stand as a community, we create our own kind of resilience—lifting, steadying, and protecting each other. Together, like the wheat that grows around us, we can withstand any storm.
