Hi everyone,
I hope you're doing well. I am excited to announce that the RCDP is hosting a ribbon-cutting celebration at its new headquarters, and you are invited! The details are as follows:
Date: Friday, May 1
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Location: 411 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS, Lower Level Suite A
First door on the left in the basement
This is a come-and-go event, and there will be refreshments provided. We sincerely hope you can join us for this ceremonial kickoff to the RCDP's This is a come-and-go event, and there will be refreshments provided. We sincerely hope you can join us for this ceremonial kickoff to the RCDP's Vote No primary election campaign..
With respect to the Vote No campaign, we are formally launching on Saturday, May 2. Besides the Riley County, Pottawatomie County, and Wabaunsee County Democratic Parties, the other coalition partners are non-partisan organizations. The RCDP has taken the promised steps we discussed to respect your non-partisan status.
We are in need of volunteers and below are the volunteer sign-up forms, descriptions of the volunteer roles, and the office hours.
HQ Manager: https://form.jotform.com/260728905468165
Responsibilities: An HQ Manager is a volunteer who supports campaign operations and helps other volunteers succeed. They handle day-to-day tasks like leading trainings and preparing volunteers to canvass, phone bank, write postcards, and more. HQ Managers also distribute yard signs, collect donations, recruit new volunteers, and keep the campaign running smoothly.
Shift Length: 2+ hours
Campaign Volunteer: https://form.jotform.com/260728456297166
Responsibilities: Campaign Volunteers can get involved in a variety of ways, such as making phone calls, writing postcards, knocking on doors, or helping assemble campaign materials.
Shift Length: 1+ hours
(Note: Since the campaign launches on May 2, the earliest shift an individual can sign up for is 10 a.m. on that day.)
Office Hours:
M-F: 12-8 p.m.
Sat: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sun: 12-6 p.m.
Please share the sign-up forms and office hours widely within your organizations. The constitutional amendment on the primary ballot is, in my opinion, a greater threat than the Value Them Both amendment from four years ago, and the most consequential item on the ballot in Kansas this year. We need all hands on deck to protect the Kansas Supreme Court.
When an individual enters the HQ to be a Campaign Volunteer, they'll be asked which campaign activity they want to do (canvass, phonebank, postcards, etc.), and whether they want to contact Democrats or Non-Democrats. For our non-partisan partners, this means that if you have volunteers who want to represent your organization while campaigning, they should inform the HQ Manager(s) of their intent to remain a non-partisan volunteer. Please share this instruction with your groups. Any person who wants to contact Democrats will present themselves as a volunteer of one of the three Democratic county parties.
I will record a series of HQ Manager training videos, and I will share the series with all of you. For Campaign Volunteers, training will be done on-site. The training manuals in the HQ are written in a way that is easy to understand on the spot and intended to quickly get someone out on the campaign trail.
Thank you for your time, service, and for joining the local Vote No coalition. Together, we can preserve the fairness of the Kansas Supreme Court and protect our fundamental rights. Please let me know if you have any questions.
See you soon!
Best,
Kelm Lear, Chair
