2024  PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,
IMPORTANT DATES

Presidential preference primary

Kansas will hold a Presidential Preference Primary on March 19, 2024.

The Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) is part of how political parties select presidential candidates.

The PPP will be a closed election. This means that only registered Democrats and registered Republicans will be able to vote in the primary (independents and unregistered voters are unable to vote in closed primaries).

The deadline to update your voter registration (declaring or changing party affiliation) is February 20, 2024; you can get voter information and access registration forms at https://sos.ks.gov/elections/voter-information.html

"On Dec. 1, the first significant deadline for the PPP arrived. This was the last day that political parties could opt out of participating in the PPP. Both the Republican and Democrat parties told the SOS they would participate in the PPP next year on March 19, 2024." (KSNT.com, Topeka, Dec 4, 2023)
